Nature or Nurture?

We had a fun time at Gymboree on Thursday. His class includes babies 10-16 months. There's a nice mix of boys and girls and there's a little boy who is 10 months and already weighs more than Evan. We love to hang out with other chubby babies! There were lots of songs, beach balls, bubbles, obstacle courses, and a parachute. The funny thing was that Evan acted exactly like his mommy would act in a new situation. He was very quiet and reserved and just sat back watching the other children and adults. He was studying everyone very closely and taking it all in. He didn't want to go further than a few inches away from me. The whole time I was wondering if I have taught him to behave this way or if it's just his nature. I am hoping he will interact more next week...I don't really want him to be quiet like me!

we had a similar experience at our first music class...BUT the teacher totally called us out the whole time (ek was the youngest - most kids were 2 yrs or so..) comments like "you can hold her for this exercise" or "why don't you let emma get in the middle so that the other kids can run in circles around her" were common place.
needless to say...we are moving the the 14 month and younger class..no more big kids!!

Oh, Leah, I think if Evan turned out to have your personality, he would bless lots of people! Waverley is on her second round of music classes and is just now getting brave enough to leave Mommy's lap!
