Day Two: Hike to Alberta Falls

Based on my friend Kalli's recommendation, we hiked to Alberta Falls. It was short enough for Evan to walk (with lots of breaks) and Ella Kate rode in the hiking backpack. It was gorgeous! On the way, we had an uncomfortable run in with a nazi park ranger. We were waiting for someone to reverse out of a parking spot. Apparently, you cannot stop the flow of traffic and are supposed to pull in to the parking spots at 20 mph. The person we were waiting for had on their reverse lights but the park ranger told us we must keep driving. We told her that was so silly and it would only be a second until the car backed out. We also pulled the "we have a baby with us" card. With no sympathy, she said if we didn't start driving, she would stand in the empty spot so we couldn't park there anyway. Wow! We learned not to mess with the park rangers after that! We had to drive 5 miles up the road and take a shuttle to the trailhead.
Evan did great and loved the scenery...

He stopped for a few snack breaks along the way.

As soon as we brought out the snacks, the chipmunk appeared...
Family pic...you can barely see EK!
We finally made it to the top!

Little one was exhausted after the hike and slept in the backpack on the way down.
We cooked in our cabin that night and had icecream in Downtown Estes Park.

I'm glad you enjoyed Alberta Falls! What a mean park ranger, who obviously has never had a baby!!
