We started day 3 bright and early so as to enjoy the Extra Magic Hours, beginning at 8am, at Animal Kingdom.
We started out on an animal exploration trail while we waited for our Safari Fastpass to become valid.
Then we hopped on the jeep for the safari. Both kids loved it.
Next, we happened upon the Pooh characters. We had fond memories of visiting here when Evan was a wee toddler.
Sis bypassed Pooh and gave Eeyore a hug.
She pointed out her name to Eeyore.
But when it was time for Tigger, she did not want to visit and we made our exit.
Sweet Evan!
Some things never change:)

We headed to the Tusker House for our character lunch with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy. I would like to give a favorable review for this one but it just was not our favorite. We had a reservation at 11:10am (early in the lunch hour, right?), but we had to wait about 30 minutes outside in the heat. Sis was done after this so we started on a very bad note. The buffet was a lot work, too, getting up and down for the kids and then myself. We may have just caught them on a bad day, however I would not choose this one again. We did a few cute photos.
We headed back to our hotel to rest and then walked to Epcot for the evening. We were there during the flower and garden festival. There were some amazing displays!
Our favorite country a Epcot, of course!
Now for the mishaps: We ate a quick service meal in Mexico which was very difficult. Sis had lost it again and we took turns eating. The clouds also broke open during this time and it was raining heavily. We weren't going to let the rain stop us, though! We pulled out our ponchos and purchased an umbrella and made our way to the Monarail to ride to Magic Kingdom for the nighttime parade. Battling the rain while exiting, we asked the gate attendant, "do they have the parade rain-or shine?" He said, "Oh yes, of course!"
So we set off on the Monarail, pretty soaked at this point. We rode Monarail #1 to the transportation center, exited, and changed concourses to catch the second Monarail to Magic Kingdom. As we were boarding Monarail #2, I realized we were missing something. Thankfully we had the children but probably my 2nd worst nightmare came to fruition. My backpack with my phone, wallet, Disney tickets (which include hotel key, and credit card link) and other important items was not with us. We realized it was back on Monarail #1 which had since left the station. The workers were so kind and assured us that the Monarail was empty and en route back to Epcot. He would phone the driver, who would recover the bag, and bring it back on his next ride. It happened just as he said and after about 20 minutes it was back. I was still nervous and upset during that time though!
But, again, nothing would stop us tonight. We were going to see that parade. We hopped off the Monarail, quickly, went through bag check, and ran into the gates of Magic Kingdom. The parade was only 5 minutes away. The rain was picking up. We were about 5 steps into the gates of Magic Kingdom when a voice came on the loudspeaker. "Ladies and gentlemen: Due to the inclement weather, we have cancelled the parade for tonight." Being DisneyWorld frequenters, we did not even look at one another but turned around and began running to the buses to our hotel, hoping to avoid a wait there. Phew. What a night! It rained on our parade...big time!
At least the kids love the bus. Here they are, soaked, on the way back to Boardwalk.
Hoping the next day at Hollywood Studios would be smooth!
